Cheer Tumbling



In our Cheer Tumbling classes, athletes will work to develop their tumbling skills based on the USASF leveling system of proper progressions used in all star cheer. There is a strong focus on utilizing drills, shaping, and strength exercises to ensure athletes are learning the appropriate form necessary to achieve each skill safely.


These classes are offered on weeknights and are 30 minutes in length. You can enroll anytime, as long as there is an opening in the class. All registration is done in our Online Customer Portal.


Ages 3-5

Athletes ages 3-5 can enroll in Tiny Cheer Tumbling, which is designed for our youngest cheer athletes to start developing their strength and coordination to assist in their tumbling skills. Athletes will use drills and stations to learn the body shapes and fundamental movements required for tumbling. Basic level 1 skills will be taught, such as forward/backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, table tops, and bridges/back bends (5 year olds only).


Ages 6 & up

Athletes age 6 & up are placed in a Cheer Tumbling class based on their skill level.

Athletes in Cheer Tumbling Basics will work to develop the core basic skills for tumbling, including forward roll, cartwheel, handstand, bridge, back bend, handstand to bridge, and beginning bridge kick overs. Many tumbling shapes will also be introduced. Once athletes have mastered those skills, they may move to Cheer Tumbling 1.​


Athletes in Cheer Tumbling 1 will build on the foundational skills of the forward roll, cartwheel, handstand, back bend, handstand bridge, and bridge kick over (off mats) that must already be mastered to enroll in this class. They will work toward the following skills: backward roll, round-off, handstand forward roll/back extension roll, front limber, back bend kick over, front walkover, back walkover passes combining those skills, and introducing drills/shapes for level 2 skills. Once an athlete has mastered their round-off, back walkover series, back walkover switch leg, front walkover, and front walkover-cartwheel-back walkover, they can move to Cheer Tumbling 2.


Athletes in Cheer Tumbling 2 must have mastered their round-off, back walkover series, back walkover switch leg, and front walkover-cartwheel-back walkover and will work toward the following skills: standing back handspring, round-off back handspring, standing passes with non-aerial skills connected to a back handspring, running passes with back and front handsprings, and introducing drills/shapes for level 3 skills.

Athletes in Cheer Tumbling 3 must have mastered their standing back handspring and back handspring step out, back walkover-back handspring, round off back handspring series, and front walkover-round off-back handspring and will work toward the following skills: standing back handspring series, round off back handspring back tuck, front tuck, aerial, standing passes with jumps and back walkovers connected to series back handsprings, running passes with back and front tucks, and introducing drills/shapes for level 4 skills.

Beginning, Intermediate, & Advanced Tumbling



The Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Tumbling classes are offered for ages 5 & up as part of the Gymnastics Etc. tumbling class program. Beginning is held on the gymnastics side of the facility, while Intermediate and Advanced are held on the cheer side.


These classes are offered on weeknights and weekends and are 60 minutes in length. You can enroll anytime, as long as there is an opening in the class. All registration is done in our Online Customer Portal.


Class Prerequisites

Beginning - no skills required (ages 5-7, and 8 & up)
Intermediate - standing back handspring or round off back handspring (ages 6 & up)
Advanced - round-off back handspring back tuck (ages 6 & up)​

Private Lessons



These are great for athletes wanting more individualized instruction. Lessons can be done for tumbling, flyer training, flexibility/conditioning, or stunting. Private lessons are available with any Lions coach. Please talk to them directly about scheduling a day/time, or email amanda@lionscheercompany.com. You may schedule one private lesson at a time or have a recurring appointment. Payments details will be provided to you upon scheduling.
